The kids have been so looking forward to Halloween and dressing up and getting candy. Isaac knew he wanted to be a shark. We then persuaded Reece to be a mermaid, followed by Silas the Sea gul. So, thanks to the help of my seamstress sister and mother, we got a handmade shark costume, mermaid tail for Reece and a hand-me-down Owl/Sea gul costume for Silas. We went to our friends neighborhood this year, there were a TON of kids there. Lots of houses particpating. The kids ran from house to house. Silas wanted to eat his candy as soon as they gave it to him. We gave him a lollipop and he was on a sugar high the rest of the night. Running crazy around with a blue mouth and blue fingers.
Towards the end there were a couple scary houses and one in particular scared Isaac and made him cry. We know he's sensitive and he's never seen anything remotely scary ever so I can see why it scared him. Apparently Reece didn't notice. After that, Isaac was not a happy camper, he wanted to go home. We told him he didn't have to go to the scary houses if he didn't want to. So he did opt out of the last couple scary ones.
In the car on the way home, Isaac was still thinking about the scary houses. He starts talking to us and says "God is so kind and generous he would never scare people. He would not celebrate Halloween. It must be Satan's favorite holiday." Then a few moments later he says "Mom, I'm going to be two things when I grow up; a missionary and a marine biologist." I say, "Well, we can always tell people about Jesus, no matter where we are. He says, "Yea, I know. I will travel the whole world in an airplane so that everyone will be Christians. I'll travel to Europe, Iceland, Africa.." Reece then chimes in "India." It was very sweet to see his conclusions for the night. We never would have guessed that's what our Halloween night conversation would have been.

Those kid thinks deep thoughts. Good on you for raising such insightful children.
I love his sensitive heart. And his heart for others to know the joy he has in knowing and believing in Jesus.
