My baby is Seven!
This boy is growing so fast. It's so interesting to see Silas walking around and remember that it was once Isaac who toddled around just like that. We didn't do a birthday party this year because we were given free passes to Legoland and SeaLife (if you don't know already, Isaac's favorite place to go). And even more awesome, was his best friend Jeremiah was able to come with us.
We opened the park at 9:00 am and stayed till closing. I didn't think we'd make it that long with tired kids and tired parents. Silas took a mini nap in the stroller (amazingly) at the same time as Malachi. The kids got lego people at the store that they traded through out the park, super fun. There was a lot of people because of the holiday week. We didn't do everything in the park but our legs were about to fall off by the end. Such a good time.

Halloween and Missionaries
The kids have been so looking forward to Halloween and dressing up and getting candy. Isaac knew he wanted to be a shark. We then persuaded Reece to be a mermaid, followed by Silas the Sea gul. So, thanks to the help of my seamstress sister and mother, we got a handmade shark costume, mermaid tail for Reece and a hand-me-down Owl/Sea gul costume for Silas. We went to our friends neighborhood this year, there were a TON of kids there. Lots of houses particpating. The kids ran from house to house. Silas wanted to eat his candy as soon as they gave it to him. We gave him a lollipop and he was on a sugar high the rest of the night. Running crazy around with a blue mouth and blue fingers.
Towards the end there were a couple scary houses and one in particular scared Isaac and made him cry. We know he's sensitive and he's never seen anything remotely scary ever so I can see why it scared him. Apparently Reece didn't notice. After that, Isaac was not a happy camper, he wanted to go home. We told him he didn't have to go to the scary houses if he didn't want to. So he did opt out of the last couple scary ones. In the car on the way home, Isaac was still thinking about the scary houses. He starts talking to us and says "God is so kind and generous he would never scare people. He would not celebrate Halloween. It must be Satan's favorite holiday." Then a few moments later he says "Mom, I'm going to be two things when I grow up; a missionary and a marine biologist." I say, "Well, we can always tell people about Jesus, no matter where we are. He says, "Yea, I know. I will travel the whole world in an airplane so that everyone will be Christians. I'll travel to Europe, Iceland, Africa.." Reece then chimes in "India." It was very sweet to see his conclusions for the night. We never would have guessed that's what our Halloween night conversation would have been.

Reece the Baker
Reece wants to help in the kitchen anytime she can. ESPECIALLY if it involves sweets. I don't know where she gets it from. She has gotton really good at stirring and pouring ingredients. I can tell she will be able to do these all on her own in a few years. I'm so glad to have another girl in the house to enjoy these things with me. Although Silas wants to be involved with anything Reece is doing too. So, he may be following in Reece's footsteps.

Jake's 37th
Most of everyone we know has heard our juvenile attachment to the number 37. Well, the epic year has come upon Jacob and we thought it necessary to celebrate big this year. So, no 40th birthday for him, this was it. HA. Friends, food and fun. Thanks to everyone for helping us celebrate Jacob!
Hannah made golf ball cake pops with the number 37 on each one. Check out her website.

Starting Shutterfly Yearbooks Now
Now that school has started, I need to start collecting drawings, photos and ideas to put in the kids' yearbook. I store all our photos on Shutterfly so I use them for all my photo albums. Since I homeschool, I'm totally going to take advantage of their yearbooks. We do a family photo album every year at Christmas, but I like the idea
of also doing a yearbook for each kid that will be just about them and
their accomplishments.
If you've never seen Shutterfly yearbooks, they have beautifully designed pages perfect for a school theme (says the picky designer). And the editing software is so easy to use and very flexible, which is a big deal.
We're only a few weeks into school and we've already gone on our first field trip, the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla. Isaac drew a picture and wrote a poem about it. Reece has been pretending with our tickets we brought home. She wants to hand them out and check people into the aquarium. And ofcourse, the photos tell great stories too. The below picture looks like the shark is looking right at Silas. This trip will definitely be going in their yearbooks.
