Well, our family headed north for our annual fall vacation. We hit Sacramento first and spent a few days with the family. As a bonus we also got to visit with Jake's aunt Jeanne who we haven't seen for a while, so that was awesome. We took the kids to Fairytale Town and a local pumpkin patch while we were there. Jake and I got to race go carts again with Jake's dad at RPM. we had a blast and I think Jim is hooked.
After our visit in Sac, we hopped back in the car and drove up to Ashland, we stopped at a small waterfall in Dunsmuir along the way, which the kids loved. We had a killer pizza for dinner at the Great American Pizza in Ashland. Spent the night in a hotel and had a great free breakfast. Isaac now loves waffles.
From Ashland we headed to Salem where we met up with a college friend of mine whom we haven't seen since our wedding 11 years ago. Then we headed over to Patrick and Mary-frances' house. They spoiled us with home-made dinner each night, including their specialty home-made hot chocolate. Mmmmmm. They were excellent hosts in showing us the sites of the town. We took the kids to the Air and Space Museum which houses the largest airplane ever made, the "Spruce Goose." Isaac was bouncing with excitement when we got there. We also found a great Children's Discovery Museum which had lots of fun rooms and things to play on. We had a great trip in Salem and enjoyed the town and scenery very much. I can see why they like it up there so much.
We headed back to Sacramento and stayed just a day for a break from the driving then headed back to San Diego. The kids did so great in the car rides, Reece got comfortable taking her naps in the car and Isaac entertained himself well. It is always a little sad coming home after being with all our family and having so much fun. We miss you all and wish we could spend more time with you.
Both kids had coughs while we were there but that didn't slow them down a bit. However, the day after we got home, Isaac shot up with a super high temperature of 103.5. We tried to take it easy today, but he's still sick.
